Frequently Asked Questions:
How fast can I get in?
Usually we can see you the same day you call depending on the time of day. Sometimes our schedule is full, so at times we have to schedule you for the next day.
Does Worker’s Compensation cover chiropractic care?
All worker’s compensation insurance plans cover chiropractic care without you needing to see your medical provider or an occupational medicine doctor.
Do I have to see my medical provider for a referral first?
Only if your insurance company requires it. In most cases they do not require a referral to see a chiropractor. If you have questions about your insurance you can call and ask that we verify coverage prior to your appointment.
Will I be required to have x-rays?
Not all cases require x-rays. After your history and physical exam, the doctor will make an informed decision on whether you need x-rays or not.
Is the treatment painful or dangerous?
The most frequent side effect of a spinal adjustment is joint soreness. This soreness can occur anywhere from 1 hour to 24 hours afterward. There is usually very little discomfort with the adjustment.
Studies have shown spinal manipulation to be a very safe and effective form of care. However, like all medical procedures there are inherent risks. You should discuss this with your doctor at the time of your evaluation.
Can you treat kids or elderly?
Our patients range from 2 day old infants to 96 year old seniors. Each patient is evaluated to determine the amount of care, and the amount of force to use during the manipulation. Just like medication, the dosage, or manipulation is tailored to each patients age and size.
Can you help me?
We have a high level of success with the patients that we determine can benefit from chiropractic care. If we can’t help you we will let you know that at the time of your examination. We would rather not accept a patient that fail to be of help.
If we determine that you are not a good candidate for chiropractic care, or the condition that you suffer from would be best treated by another health care provider, we will help you find the right provider and share our findings with them.
How long will it take?
This is one of the most difficult questions to answer. Each patient, and condition, takes differing amounts of treatment to “fix”. A simple spinal misalignment might take 1-2 visits, or a complex injury may take several months of care. We schedule care in 10-14 day blocks of time. Then, when we see how you respond to care make the recommended changes.
Do I have to miss work?
In the majority of cases no. It is important to work with your employer so you can modify your work if needed, but it is almost always best for you to maintain as normal of a routine as possible when recovering from an injury.
Can you treat someone who has a herniated disc?
In the majority of cases yes. It all depends on the findings of the examination.
Will you co-manage my care with my medical provider?
Yes, we usually send chart notes to your family doctor or specialist if we know they have been treating you for your complaint at the same time.
Do you treat patients with cancer?
Yes, while we don’t treat patients “for” cancer, we do provide care to patients that are going through cancer treatment, or have previously had cancer. This all depends on your area of complaint and the examination and radiological findings.
What if other chiropractors haven’t been able to help?
Like most other forms of healthcare, each provider does things a little bit different. If one chiropractor hasn’t been able to help, you should seek another’s opinion and see if they are able to make your condition better. In our office, if we treat another chiropractor’s patient, we will return that patient to the original treating doctor unless the patient insists on staying with us.
What happens if you aren’t able to help me?
We have more than one doctor in our office and normally we will have you see the other chiropractor. If that doesn’t work out we will refer you to the doctor that is best suited for your condition. We would rather refer you to someone else than fail to make your condition better.
